SIBO Recovery – 10 months

It’s be a few months since I recapped my progress so far. So here it goes!

I spent a good portion of my busy season – August to December – very tired. I was insanely busy and felt like being self-employed was complete insanity. And of course, I wasn’t sleeping really well. Doing a 21 Day Sugar Detox did help reset my blood sugar instability at the end of summer. I totally recommend it, it’s the bomb. Unfortunately, even though I had just about everything dialed in, I was still insanely tired. It was very frustrating. For a little while I even though it was just grief – as there had been a death in my extended family.

Then after having some blood work done we found out that my thyroid was basically not working. My levels had dropped below normal – I was officially hypothyroid. As much of a bummer as it was, it was really a relief. It wasn’t grief, nor was it all in my head. Logically, my naturopath put me on thyroid meds. Holy baby goats those teeny little pills are magic!

The first month and a half I was on them I got more done then I had in months! I painted our living room, some chairs, updated some things in my business, did Christmas and New Years and made more organized plans for this blog! My skin further improved – which surprised me because directly after treating my SIBO infection earlier in 2014, the bad acne I had been dealing with finally went away. But with the thyroid meds my skin looked like it was un-aging – I looked younger some how.

In the early part of 2015 I worked a ton and actually had the energy to do so. Which is fantastic because so far 2015 has been one of the best years for my business and personal life and it’s not even half over!

And finally, one of the last things with which I was struggling made some improvement – the acid-reflux with which I’d been dealing on and off again since I was a teen. The longer I’m on  thyroid meds the better my body is getting at actually digesting my meals. While it’s not perfect yet – I’m stilling using apple cider vinegar before every meal – it’s improved to the point that I’m not dealing with the constant acidy feeling in my chest and throat. So yay!
